About Linda Butler

Linda Butler (b. 1947) is an American photographer who has worked as an independent artist for more than 25 years. She attended Antioch College and the University of Michigan, taking a studio course with Ansel Adams whose work has remained an important influence on her photography.  

“Blowing Curtain, near La Spezia Italy” is from a series spanning 5 years in which she travelled extensively throughout Italy photographing still lives and interiors. Most of the photographs appear in her book “Italy:In the Shadow of Time” published by Rizzoli. Her work has been exhibited at The Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC, The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D.C.
