About Susan Derges
Susan Derges (b. 1955) is a British photographic artist, whose work revolves around the creation of visual metaphors exploring the relationship between the self and nature. She is known as a pioneer of camera-less photography, capturing the outdoor, natural landscapes and complementing with studio techniques. Her works have been exhibited in the world’s most prominent museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, Art Institute of Chicago and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Alder Brook 1 is a mesmerizingly beautiful piece, echoing Monet’s "Giverny" paintings, rendered as a photograph with contemporary clarity.
