About Doug & Mike Starn

The Starn Twins (b. 1961, US) collaborate on a range of artworks including photography, printmaking, sculpture and architectural installation. They are the recipients of two National Endowment for the Arts Grants and their work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), The Museum of Modern Art (NYC) and the San Francisco Museum of Art (SF) amongst many others.

Ganjin was the Japanese name for the Chinese monk, Jianzhen, who helped to propagate Buddhism in Japan. This particular work is a perfect example of the artists' iconic style using photo collage beautifully rendered on Thai Mulberry paper.
